Elyse would gather all the neighborhood kids
together to paint benches, hang bedspreads from Mom’s laundry
line, borrow a record player from the kid next door, and all of
us were part of the show. We acted like the singers on the
records! I went door to door and sold out the show to some
thirty parents for 25 cents each. That was back in 1959 when I
was just 10 year’s old living in San Fernando Valley… I was in
Show Business! Fast forward to 1992 when I was introduced to the
world of celebrity impersonators. We had an opportunity to
create a show at Mary’s nightclub, downstairs at Bono’s
Restaurant here in Palm Springs. The Riviera Hotel owned the
building and offered to take care of the hotel rooms and meals
for the talent. We had Joan Rivers, Roy Orbison, and a fabulous
Elvis. My brother gave me the sound system, my Mom bought the
Mylar drapes, my sister donated a cash register, my son ran the
sound and spotlight, and my Dad was the Maitre’D looking like a
very handsome tuxedo clad Dean Martin!!!
Fast forward to December 26, 2006 and we opened our very own
venue in Downtown Palm Springs! We had the best location in the
valley and surrounded by the magnificent mountain range that
promotes visitors to experience the beauty of Palm Springs.
CopyKatz Showroom was a dream come true for me and my entire
cast. Most dreams don’t come true, but ours did. Fast forward to
October 2008 and the worst economic time frame in American
history Unfortunately, it got the best of our Downtown venue and
we were unable to remain open. Elyse returned to booking
celebrity impersonators and is currently working on our new
production "Duet's" A Very Special Tribute To Michael Jackson.
The shows will begin in September and will be offered to
Casino's, Cruise ships and Corporate Events. Stay tuned~ |
